Tenant Fees Ban
You may have heard that in the recent autumn statement the Chancellor has indicated that the Government intend to ban tenant fees ‘as soon as practically possible’.
We have been in constant touch with our professional body (ARLA), they have advised that the proposals will go to consultation in the new year and that dependent on the way it is implemented from a legal standpoint, it will take around twelve to eighteen months to become law.
It is unclear at this point if it will end up being a full ban on fees. We agree that there are some agencies who charge exorbitant fees. This does not form part of our ethos, we would be in favour of a tenant fee cap. We believe in fair and transparent pricing for both Landlords and Tenants.
We will update you as soon as this situation becomes clearer.
